Coastal Mid-Atlantic Fishing Report, January 2 Update: Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. Winter winds have made it difficult to get offshore at times this week, but there are still plenty of bluefin to chase when the weather allows. Several boats from Delaware, Ocean City, and Virginia Beach made it to the tuna grounds and found success catching “overs” and “unders”. Fish In OC had several reports from the Ocean City fleet with successful trips and it… Read more from Coastal...
Freshwater Fishing Report, January 2 Update:  Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. The recent warmup should keep ice at bay for the moment, but Contributor Eric Packard reported that late last week a venture to Stoney Creek for pickerel was foiled by ice. Hopefully temps will remain high enough that this doesn’t become more of a problem in the near future—or they’ll drop low enough that we get an ice fishing season in 2025. Packard also mentioned that… Read more from Freshwater...
Way North Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report, January 2 Update:  Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. Recent rains muddied up the water as we had runoff flowing in from the Susky. Water temperatures are also very cold which will make most fish more lethargic. There is no shortage of catfish to fish for in the Way North region of the Bay. The mouths of the tidal rivers along the deeper channels and holes will be a good place to search them out if you are… Read more from Way North...
Upper Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report, January 2 Update: Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. Pickerel have been biting good in the upper Bay tribs when anglers can access the creeks. The upper Magothy River, Bodkin Creek, Stoney Creek, and Baltimore area creeks are all holding pickerel that will be a reliable target throughout the winter. The recent warmup should keep ice at bay for the moment, but Contributor Eric Packard reported that late last week a… Read more from Upper Bay...
Middle Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report, January 2 Update:  Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. There are still big rockfish being caught in the Middle Bay but there was a bit of a lull in the action in the past week, with several readers reporting that over the weekend and early this week the bite was on the slow side. Chesapeake Beach was a hot zone with some short-lived bird action and a handful of reports of fish over the 40” mark caught on soft… Read more from Middle Bay...
Lower Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report, January 2 Update:  Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. Many Lower Bay anglers were out taking advantage of the last few days of the 2024 striped bass season. The mouth of the Potomac was productive last weekend, and we had several boats report catching slot sized fish along with some trophy fish. A troller working the mouth said he caught 10 fish ranging from 18” to 44” and at one point had all four rods go down with… Read more from Lower Bay...
Tangier, Pocomoke, and Lower Shore Fishing Report, January 2 Update:  Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. The wind has been whipping this week which has kept most boats off the Bay. There are still migratory striped bass to be caught out there, but the Virginia recreational harvest season ended at the turn of the year. Anglers looking to catch striped bass during January in any waters of the Chesapeake Bay will only be allowed to catch and release. Last… Read more from Tangier and Lower Shore...
Way South Chesapeake Bay Fishing Report, January 2 Update: Happy New Year folks! Let’s make the 2025 fishing season another great one. The wind has really been blowing this week which has kept most boats off the water. The cold isn’t helping either and it looks like the forecast may be calling for more cold weather headed our way. There has been some migratory striped bass action on the main Bay and the best reports are coming from the Eastern Shore near Cape Charles. Sho-Nuf Sportfishing was… Read more from Way South...
